My TCM went out (check engine light, AT light, and traction lights all popped up on dashboard) earlier this month. Had it towed to the shop and they quoted me $1000 for the part from Mazda. I asked them if I provided the part, would they have an issue? They said no. I found the part with this vendor for a little less than half the cost. Double check the part matches the year and engine type of your car Mazda3. After purchasing, contact Amazon customer service to provide you the phone number to call and speak with the technician directly. He will ask you to text the Amazon order number and provide the VIN number so he can program the TCM to your Mazda specifications. I received the part and it worked upon plug and play. I did tell the mechanic to keep the original TCM, as this vendor also does TCM repairs for the same price. I would like to have it as a back-up. The only additional advice for anyone reading the reviews is to clean your throttle as the new TCM needs to communicate with all sensors. A dirty throttle can block that and cause your check engine light to come on again in addition to a rough idle due to air/fuel mixture imbalance. For all Mazda owners, I recommend this vendor for your TCM needs! It was the difference between a $1900 v. $850 out of pocket expenses in purchasing this part. Hope this helps!

I can’t tell you how frustrating my transmission control module going bad has been. What started happening to me is every so often, the AT light would come on in my car for 1 or 2 seconds and then it would disappear. When this happened, my car would jolt (I think because it was entering safe mode which only allows for 3rd gear or lower). Needless to say, this was very alarming when it would occur and I didn’t feel safe driving the car. No error codes were stored, so determining the problem was difficult. What I ended up doing was changing the transmission fluid which needed to be done. That didn’t help. The battery also needed replacing. That didn’t help. After some research, I found that the TCM on older Mazda 3’s often would go bad because they’re placed right on the transmission which would heat up the TCM and eventually cause it to fail. I tried ordering a TCM, but made a mistake because I didn’t find out the exact part number before ordering. Instead I ordered based on my my cars make an model (2011 Mazda 3 2.0L). This of course resulted in errors after installing it. At the time, I didn’t know I had the wrong part, so I decided to send my original TCM to get repaired by upfix. Do not do this. It takes multiple weeks, and they did something wrong because after installing it, I got the check engine light and AT light coming on when I would reach 30mph and a host of error codes. Finally, after determining that I originally ordered the wrong part, I decided to try this TCM. I made sure I had the right starting part number, and that it matched for my make, model, and trim. This TCM looked flawless when it arrived, and it has worked perfectly. I don’t know if it helped, but for the adaptive learning and to make the new part adjust properly, I went through Mazda’s suggested instructions for getting the new TCM to learn how you drive. I’m so glad I bought this and highly recommend this seller. They provide a 1 year warranty and they’re one of the only sellers of these that advertised that you could contact them and give them your vin. It’s clear they want to provide you with the right part and that they stand behind their product. For this new part, I didn’t install it where the old one was installed as I didn’t want it to fail down the road. Look up how to install it on the brake lines with zip ties and this new part should last you a long while. I’ve only got a little over 100 miles since installing the new part, but it’s working great and it has reduced my stress about this issue dramatically.

I had tried another TCM module from Amazon seller that was able to ship it to me, but that one was not preprogrammed. Even when it said pre program in their description, but it did not work and It gave error codes. So I bought another TCM #2, from FleaBay that was supposed to be already programmed, but that one was even worse than the first TCM I bought from Amazon. 2nd TCM from ebay gave hard clunking when shifting to reverse. and it cause even more error codes than my OEM TCM!
So I found this seller here. Thank goodness REVOLVE SAVE MY DAUGHTER CAR! I Purchased this TCM through this seller and their partner, Because Amazon won’t ship it to me. But this seller will work with you and provide assistance and communication for alternatives. Also they can program the TCM with your VIN number. That really help your car’s computer communicate with your car’s transmission and other code issues, like non stop running radiator fan always on high blast. That’s one of the symptoms for the TCM error code and hard shifting. The AT LIGHT, TRACTION LIGHT AND CHECKED ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF. I CLEARED IT WITH OBD SCANNER AND ALL SHIFTING GOOD AND SMOOTH! NO CLUNKING OR OTHER ERROR CODES. I would buy from this seller again, only if Amazon changes their shipping policy. Just remember to provide your VIN so they can program it to your TCM model number. TCM MODEL L539189E1H PROGRAMMED TO L539189E1J it worked for me. THANK YOU AGAIN REVOLVE! For referral.
5 ⭐. AMAZON BETTER THAN FLEABAY.
