4 wheeler would crank over but not start. Installed a new stator, coil, relay, and battery and still wouldn’t start. Installed a $35 eBay cdi – nothing. Installed this cdi and it started right up. Very happy! Thanks

This has brought new life to an 20 yr old machine. Can’t believe the improvement.

Fonctionne très bien sur Kodiak 400

Had bought two (2) low end CDI boxes in an effort to prove that the CDI was the cause of my misfiring in a 2000 Yamaha Kodiak 400. Both were dead on arrival (or for a different machine, or had nothing inside them). Spent a bit more money and purchased this CDI box. Installed and the Kodiak started right up. No misfiring! Response time and top end speed have improved too.
After one day, no problems to report.

Works great my four wheeler was sitting a year put this in due to the old one smoking up, and… it ran flawless well worth the money don’t waste your money on the cheap ones either atv runs and drives great starts easy now even came with stickers and key ring which is nice for something so expensive Great seller

    This CDI box worked perfectly,
My 2000 Yamaha Kodiak 400 would not start for me one day and I could not figure out why. I had the carb cleaned, new spark plug, New Coil, New Stator and still nothing. It turned over (not very well) and I could get spark with my spark detector if I went straight from the Spark Plug Cap to the block. But as soon as I put the plug in I had nothing. I bought the $70 CDI box thinking I would save the money and they are all the same. Plugged it in and it would not even turn over any more. So I ordered this one. Once I plugged it in my machine fired right up better and faster than ever before. Save yourself the time and DON’T BUY THE CHEAPER VERSIONS!!!

Shipping was fast. I have a 2004 Kodiak had no spark. I tested everything I could think of and finally ordered the cdi. It fired right up! Very happy with this company and glad I didn’t try the cheap ones just to be disappointed. The only bummer was that when I read some other reviews they said they got stickers and a key chain. I didn’t get that but will buy from these guys always!

I recently acquired a quad that wouldn’t produce a spark at the plug. I checked the wiring and components and could find nothing wrong. Checked the ignition output terminals and on the CDI and they registered near to a dead short. This didn’t seem right, based on my limited understanding.

I meticulously peeled a good deal of the potting off of the old CDI. It’s silicone with some sort of gravel filler so it was a massive pain. You eventually discern the tactile difference between gravel and some electronic component you don’t want to destroy, translated into your hand through your picking tool. I got far enough in to see some of the layout, with the important bits being a very small transformer, solid state switching devices, capacitors, and a MOV. In imagining the potential connections between these components (wasn’t quite down to a clear view of the traces), I suspected that the MOV was the culprit.

I went ahead and ordered this unit because there would have been a good deal more to do before I could fix, install it, and felt that I was done with it:
-More painstaking work to just remove the MOV for testing.
-It would need repotting or some other means of protection.
-The capacitors should probably be replaced with high quality caps while I’m in it, which means I would have to order some good caps and wait for them to arrive.
-What did I potentially damage while removing the potting compound, that would have been pain to troubleshoot

I took several resistance measurements of pins of the new CDI prior to installation (182 of them, or every possible combination, which includes reversing the meter leads). I bothered to spend the hour doing this for a few reasons:
    – I wanted a way to potentially verify whether something I overlooked in the wiring had damaged it.
    – I wanted to know whether it also showed a short on the output (It didn’t. It eventually registered OL in one measuring polarity, and immediately registered OL in the other)
    – To have a record if something malfunctions in the future. A massive change may not prove that the CDI is faulty and finding no change will not prove that it’s good but a massive change should rouse suspicion, and if it coincides with a circuit connected to the pin that has a massive change, it would be doubly suspicious.

After enough dawdling, I installed it into the quad and it fixed the issue.

I attached a snip of the schematic. The upper right shows the view as one would face the CDI terminals, with the ignition output terminals marked.

I purchased the high performance box on June 5th, 2020. It arrived ahead of schedule and the part worked like a champ when I first installed. It lasted until last week and died. This is on a work 4 wheeler and has been used maybe 7-8 times since install. When I try to crank the the 4 wheeler I can hear the CDI making short sound.

Wow! Super impressed with this company and product. First off this was for my 2000 Yamaha Kodiak 400 4×4. I had lost spark just randomly one day after I shut it off. Had replaced the stator and pickup coil due to frayed wires and age in hopes it would fix problems but still no spark. Bought a cheap $30 CDI on Amazon and it was wrong one. Finally pulled the trigger and got this one as Yamaha wanted $450 for new one.

Package came nicely packaged to prevent damage in shipping. RMStator also sent packet of dielectric grease for the electric connectors, decal sticker, keychain, and coupon for future purchases from them.

This is a 6 pin and 8 pin electric connector. Installed and ATV fired right up!! Easier then ever before and sounded better then it ever had. Very happy and pleased THANK YOU!!
